In 2023, my fellow ACD, Kenneth Greene, and I set out to overhaul Sam’s Club’s brand site. The old site was a dated, inefficient grid of boxes that, when clicked, simply downloaded a PDF or ZIP file containing content from a specific section. It was cumbersome, outdated, and far from user-friendly. To modernize and streamline the experience, we explored several platform options, ultimately selecting the one that would allow us to create an intuitive, self-service portal—organized, easy to navigate, and simple to update.
We designed the new site to give users the ability to download vector files in any format or size they required. We also created password-protected sections to ensure we could control access to specific content. The process was an immense undertaking, particularly when it came to mapping out the information architecture and organizing the content into coherent "stories." We spent months carefully curating and building the assets needed for each section, subsection, and even sub-subsection. While it was a challenging undertaking, the result has been highly successful, providing immense value for both our internal associates and external partners.
